Crema da barba verde v. (Proraso) eucalyptus, menthol
How could I have shaved for the last six years without trying this classic? It's good that I put it off for so long. If Proraso's Green had been one of my first creams, I may not have tried any others. Green is not a complicated fragrance: it's just eucalyptus with a bolt of menthol. You can get the same arrangement in a dozen other soaps. Many of them smell sort of nasty, but Proraso's Green has some pine and tobacco nuances that make it a pleasure to use on a warm spring afternoon. What does it remind me of? Twenty years ago I was waiting at a bus stop outside Florence. It was early, about 7:00 am, and all the other guys there must have just shaved with Proraso Green because I was completely enveloped in a fog of eucalyptus and menthol. To this day, that for me is the smell of Italy in the morning.

Bloomed the soap while I showered - loaded for about 25 with a lightly damp 28mm Timberwolf (an absolutely AMAZING knot) - Face-painted for a couple minutes - dipped ~25% of the knot & face-lathered for 2-3 minutes - dip & lather for 2-3 minutes three more times to end up with a wonderfully slick and protective lather
