What soap/cream did you use today?

After yesterday's shave terror I was really looking forward to a tried and true, dependable and stalwart, steady and loyal soap.  Black Tie Razors Casino Royale got the nod.  I hit it with a boar brush and lather came easy.  Finished building it on my face all the while enjoying the well executed scent.  Added a dab of water here and there until I was coated with gleaming lather.  Grabbed my Futur (which was not in the usual place) Placed it just below my left sideburns and Expected a glide but received a screech!  Wow, that was harsh!  I flipped the razor over and there was that sweet Futur goodness!  I rinsed the razor and inspected the blade.  With the exception of about three rolled spots on the edge things were great?.  Brother shaving dudes, let me tell you, being a grandpa is a joy of unspeakable wonder, but having a couple of shave inspired grandson  raccoons, who can't leave cool shiny things alone, makes for an interesting shave.  I finished the shave with just the one side of the razor and boy was life grand.  Close, smooth, comfortable, irritation-free, and what a strong finish!  Thank you Black Tie. 

So post shave I discovered Logan had "accidentally" shaved the porcelain of the sink but was very careful not to cut himself!  I told him that was good to be careful but could he please just use his own razor (he has an old Gillette Super speed Flair to shave sinks with?  I would be too worried he might cut himself.  He promised he will not touch Dobby’s Razor again(until the next time).  Explanation:  I am known to my grandkids as Dobby.  Logan and his family live with me until May, when their house is done. He is 5 years old, has a bladeless razor, a 30mm best badger brush, a tub of soap, and some aftershave and shaves about three times per week.  (Sometimes three times per night).  For a 5 year old his lathers are pretty good.  But he's not ready for the big time yet so please leave Dobby's razor alone.  Gonna miss that kid fussing with my kit when he moves but it'll only be two miles away so…

Yeah those sinks can get pretty stubbly if not shaved regularly.  What a delight to have your family living with you.  For a while

Man is this stuff thirsty. I could not break her down. I dipped my tips 10+times and she kept getting slicker! Great scent too. Pairs well with Dyptique Oud Palao.

I do have fun and you are correct.  His dad solved an ingrown issue with DE and his mom loves her Leaf razor so he's already on his way.

My spreadsheet tells me that if I don't buy another soap for at least five years, I just might reach my goal of shaving for one cent a day by Wednesday, October 15, 2025. Over the last five years, I've bought about 270 soaps and samples. Going cold turkey for the next five years will certainly be a challenge. Luckily I'll have some excellent company along the way, like this splendid soap from Le Père Lucien, Cèdre-Orange. Can I make this tub last for five years. Not likely. It smells so nice I'm tearing right through it.
