Plant your snout in this puck and you'll understand what Milton meant by 'the green turf that's sucked the honied showers'. This is divine. If they play rugby in heaven, Felce Aromatica is what they come home smelling like. I get green, green, green, with a dose of ginger and balsam. Fabulous.

Italian Barbershop v. (Le Père Lucien) orange, cinnamon
Seventy-five swirls made just enough lather for two passes. Le Père Lucien relies on a simple recipe, like Martin de Candre, but it certainly doesn't perform like that magnificent French soap. Le Père Lucien cries out for a long, long load and lots of agitation to built a sufficient emulsion. In fact, I had to reload with another forty swirls just to get in a third pass. This all comes as more of a surprise, though, than a complaint. Truth is, Le Père Lucien's finish is the best among all my soaps. No dryness, no tightness, no irritation at all. So, though the suds aren't nearly as impressive as those made by Martin de Candre or Saponificio Varesino, at the end of the shave I like what this soap does to my skin even more. I'll keep working this puck a few more days to see if I can't bring up a suitable lather with less effort.
