What soap/cream did you use today?

Agreed, Meissner understands that packaging, although nonvalueadded, conveys the manufacturer’s self image to the public. Just as a lady will dress in fine lingerie nobody will ever see, how one views self is projected for all the world to see

What kind of lingerie? I’m trying to see a mental image...

Think Japanese lady of means.  During filming of Gone With the Wind, Selznick spent a fortune on custom made lingerie for the actresses, even background actresses without speaking roles.  The women loved the costumes but suggested it was simply too much expense that the film audience would never see; his response was that it wasn't for the film audience, it was for the actresses - they would know what they were wearing.

I have no idea why Barrister and Mann discontinued the Latha line of products.  I'll assume it was a profit and streamline business model decision and that is ok.  That said, I miss knowing that when this puck of Lavanda is gone, it's gone.  This one is/was a very easy and predictable soap.  The lavender scent is very nice and performance is classic B&M.  Well, plenty of other really nice lavender scents around. (And I do have a new puck in the wings).

Thanks!  It's a Teton Shaves brush and I really like it too.  Fishing is sort of my addiction and a lot of fish have fallen to this very pattern.

The Club - The Novelist - While I realize that A&E has offered Asian Pear with an "updated" base, just not into Pears . I have always considered the current Goat's Milk & Lanolin base a soap that delivers an "elite" performance on all levels. . While I'm not a big 'Scent' guy, The Novelist has immediately become one of my very favorite fragrances. Mrs. lukester has also mentioned that she very much approves of the scent. All in all - a good day! Great shave. Smell good. Thanks to Rusty Shackelford for the recommendation. 

Rose v. (Martin de Candre) dry rose

This is a dry almost bitter rose whose powder has all blown away. If you're looking for a rose that smells like velvet petals kissed by the morning dew, you may want to point your nose elsewhere. Homelikeshaving sandalwood shave soap

Wholly Kaw by most reports is a premium product and I'm sure not going to bad mouth it here. It is indeed a top tier soap for me.  This is their Spice Vitae and the scent I get directly off the puck is…… Rubbing Alcohol.  It's sharp, astringent, and smells like, well, isopropyl alcohol.  Now doesn't that sound like a desirable scent?  Shoot, I already have a bottle of 90% aftershave in the cabinet to pair it with.  If all I'd had to judge this soap was the scent off the puck, it would never have made its way into my home, but it was in a box of fundraiser stuff DFS does during Movember for men's health issues.  Given the clinical scent, it remained in the dugout for several weeks but one day I just had to know what that buffala base was all about and I cracked the lid and lathered it up.  Lather came about like you'd expect from a heavily oiled soap.  Not too long to lather but a bit more work than a Black Tie Razor offering for sure.  What surprised me though was the scent of alcohol disappeared and other scents lead out.  The main note in this one to me is black coffee and brother, that is just fine with me.  I don't drink the stuff but have always loved the scent.  This one takes me back to sitting in the Depot Grill on a Saturday morning with my Dad and a bunch of old stockmen eating a stack of flapjacks and listening to them discuss range conditions, beef prices, politics, and jokes.  All of them had a Silver Belly Stetson but none of them had them on because back in the day, a cowboy removed his hat when indoors.  And Betty Crozier, the waitress who called everybody hun was moving about quickly and filling heavy milk glass mugs with hot coffee.  Betty’s husband Lyle used a booth against the wall as his office and was there everyday for years.  Lyle was a horse buyer and our neighbor (a close 7 miles away).  He wore a super huge handlebar mustache and when he wasn't dealing horses he played cards.  Good people.  Simple people who rose early and worked hard.  Who never had hands that didn't have a fingernail or two that were regrowing and who all had a very sharp knife in their pocket.  And the black coffee!  That scent still takes be back and I love it.
