Mitchell’s Wool Fat resides in that coffret and although I don't get to it often enough it really is a great soap and shave. Like many very old school soaps, and unlike many of us shaving weirdos, Mitchell’s doesn't offer us a glimpse into the scent accord. Perhaps that is a good thing and perhaps we should all just relax and enjoy the ride? I don't find “The Fat” to be terribly mild on scent as some report. I do find it to be a very inoffensive, wide appeal type soap. Many report it “smells like soap” but I'd state that this has much more going on than just simply a soapy scent. Do I smell lavender? I think so. Do I smell a woody note? I think so. But whatever it is I'm smelling is masterfully done. Scent to me is gentlemanly and about 4/10 or maybe 410/1000. Old school? Yes, I believe so and to its benefit. It's reported to be finicky to lather and most state to stay clear of hard water with Mitchell’s. I am sure the reports are correct but whatever is in their hard water is not in mine (and mine is rock hard). It lathers easy and proffers dense, slick, long lasting emulsion. Face feel is awesome unless you have the dreaded lanolin allergy (sorry Nero). Post, like many old school soaps is a bit tight which again, is not a deal breaker for me.
