Dark Limes is scented with lime juice and the oils extracted from lime leaves, lime peels, and the dried fruit of the may chang tree, known as litsea cubeba (pictured below). The fruits look like little black pepper corns, but they smell nothing like that. Instead, litsea cubeba gives off a sweet lemony scent that many perfumers prefer to actual lemon oil. It has the added advantage of being very stable. Unlike lemon oil, litsea cubeba oil doesn’t go rancid, so it finds a happy spot in cosmetics. It’s good it lasts so long, because this soap is as dense as a brick and will probably last for years if not decades.
