I've never been able to figure out the scent of this, so I've always balked at buying it.

Maybe I need to just take the plunge?

Edit: Scratch that, I did try speik a long time ago. It's la toja I haven't tried.

Too many soaps, lol.

Dirtyver Icarus t. (Declaration Grooming) bergamot, vetiver, petrichor

This is no off the shelf scent. DG has brewed up something unique. I love it, but I have to admit it smells a lot like the pickled beets my grandmother kept in her dirt cellar. Dirtyver has a deep rooty fragrance graced with damp earth and a tingling of citrus on top. The lather comes together easily and makes for a really nice shave. I’d swing for a whole tub if it were still offered.

There was a time when I was going to do something like this – buy the unscented versions of all my favorite shave soaps, and then add essential/fragrance oils to them myself. My enthusiasm for the idea lasted about a week. I guess there’s something about someone else coming up with a scent blend (and then the labeling and marketing for it) that appeals to the senses even more than mixing one’s own blends… Confused2

New soap I picked up while traveling.  Barrister and Mann's Patches has notes of,strawberry, basil, black pepper and all of them are noticeable and the accord is masterfully blended to take the sweetness of the berry and the sharpness of the basil and pepper and finish with a scent from heaven.  This is not a "foods" smell to me at all.  Sure do like it though.  It's in the glissant base which I believe I like as well as the excelsior anyway.  (Both are excellent.)
