A few years ago when I got interested in scents, I planted a fragrance garden. I guess my thumbs are both brown, because nothing thrived. Today I dug up the last of the aromatic plants, the vetiver grass. It had become a straggly mess, and my wife was giving it stink eye. A healthy vetiver plant will send roots down several feet, but the roots of my poor lump barely grew eight inches into the hard salty soil. To console myself for the plant’s demise I lathered up MW’s Vetiver & Oakmoss. Among all the soaps on my shelf, that one comes closest to my vetiver’s smoky-dirty scent. Unfortunately the lather came out lousy. It’s been too long since I fiddled with this puck, and I’ve forgot all the tricks for conjuring up a full unctuous brush of suds. At least a dusting of Heeley’s Vetiver Veritas parfum offered consolation. Though it starts off minty, within twenty minutes it dries down to true pungent root.

I'm so lucky!  Never had an issue getting mystic waters right whether old or new formula.  Vetiver".........mmmmmm.
I've got a certain technique I use with Mystic Water and get great lathers with it. The Vetiver & Oakmoss might be my favorite of Michelle's scents. Poggio dei Pini, Sweet Briar and Egyptian Dragon are all very nice as well

Inspirazione di Parma v. (Catie’s Bubbles) Acqua di Parma Colonia

Thanks to the DFSer who sent me a jar of this excellent soap. I sampled a small chip of another CB soap years ago, but I’ve never tried a full tub until today. I’ve been missing out. This vegan soap lathers easily and makes a slippy emulsion. Though it left me a little tight, I’ve no complaints. It’s hot and wet here now, so I was happy to feel wrung out, if only for a few minutes. Now, six hours since I put my razor down, the glycerin has kicked in full force. Good thing I didn't reach for the aftershave since tonight my skin's passing plump.

IdP smells pretty good, too. This is a citrusy interpretation of AdP’s Colonia. I’m not getting that sweet milky sandalwood you find in old bottles of the cologne, and the patchouli’s pretty tame. There may also be a whiff of something metalic on the side. But none of this is enough to distract from the pleasure of a really good shave. I think I’m going to have to try a few more of Catie’s bubbles.

I really like Tallow and Steel soaps.  Great protection.  Great lather.  But heaven help me Most of the scents confuse me.  Today was Boreal which is touted to smell like a Boreal Forest. It has stated notes of Cedarwood, cedar leaf, balsam fir, white spruce, black spruce, Monard (?) and birch.  All of these are scents I love (except Monard which I don't know anything about.). The scent is to garbled and although I have been in many a boreal forest, I don't get taken on a trip with this soap.  LOVE the label art.  In fact T&S art rocks. Scents are an acquired taste.
