What soap/cream did you use today?

So I got back home and found a new soap to,try. My son (and neighbor) had received an Oleo Soapworks tub of canard based soap and wanted me to try it. Boyd is the name and I find the graphics pretty pleasingly simple. Boyd had no scent profile posted on Vidas website so I twisted the lid and was met with a snootful of floral but couldn't put my finger on the scent source until I lathered it. The lather is pretty stinking good. Low structure and not thirsty, I started with a dryer brush and added dribbles of water until I got some creamy, shiney lather. Felt good on the face. Slickness is passable and the stuff shaved well but the scent! Darned if it's not rose. I love the scent of roses and crave products that smell like them. This is not one of those. I understand rose scent is terribly expensive thus we are left to chemical combos that hint of rose. Unfortunately there is something in rose fragrance oil that I react to. I don't get red or feel pain or break out in blisters while searching for an epi-pen reaction. It's just a bit of annoying heat and a bit of an itch. Add to that my dislike of our artificial rose scent which I find cloying, and this one is a swing and a miss. I know people like rose and someone else will love this one.

Mirto di Sardegna v. (Saponificio Varesino) lime, lavender, oak moss, vetiver

With Saponificio Varesino’s soaps, a badger brush always does the honors. Its soft fibers gives me a huge load of thick, dense, creamy lather that goes on smooth and slick. Mirto di Sardegna’s cushion runs with the best of my soaps, even the tallow, and its scent, a mild lime and floral concoction, suits a warm spring morning. There’s some tightness at first, but that loosens up within thirty minutes and the rest of the day is smooth sailing.

But what's with the name? Mirto di Sardegna is actually an Italian liqueur made from the inky blue berries of the myrtle bush. On Sardinia, it’s served chilled at the end of a meal to aid digestion. It's said to have a spicy-herby-orangey flavor that finishes sweet and syrupy. That’s not at all what I get when I smell this soap, but wouldn’t it be cool if it were.

She must have seen your post and realized she hadn't posted the scent profile yet . This is what's on her site now:

"A classic clean scent from a famous bird in our bathtub that we all know and love in our luxurious Canard Base"

I hate to admit it but I really don't know what "famous bird" that would be...maybe because I used Irish Springs for 20 years before switching to artisan brand soaps in the past two years.

There are a few others posted which I hadn't seen before but it's been a long time since I've been on the site. The No. 11 sounds the most intriguing to me (Scent Notes: Basil, Black Pepper, Lavender, Rosemary, Tonka Bean, White Musk)

She had that posted before I wrote but it just hit me she is referencing Dove soap. Yeah, took me awhile . Not Jolene's smartest kid.
