D.R. Harris leaves a dry finish that even a warm, misty afternoon can’t overcome. A good balm vastly improves the feeling after the shave. The lather is fine, though not remarkable by current standards; but the splendid scent and the classic wooden bowl will always keep this tub of Windsor in my rotation. It smells like new shoe leather and clean vetiver. Imagine you’ve just spilled a drop of Grey Vetiver on a new pair of brogues. At first you regret it, but in a couple minutes you think that smell’s really not half bad, and in spite of your better judgment, you give them another drop.

Very nice shoes.

Woods of Windsor shaving soap (tallow)

On the road this week and it was a quick trip so I carried on my bag. That means a Gillette Guard razor, my travel brush, and a tube of Cremo Bourbon cream. Meh. Hey, it is slick and it will lather and the scent is awesome but it's more a grooming chore than the morning event I've come to enjoy. I PIFed the big tube a while back but kept this sample so I could revisit it. Hey, I'm not missing the big tube and my friend loves it so win/win. I'll kill this sample on this trip go back to Coates for my travel cream from here out.

Cremo works well, it is super slick and protective. Used it when I first started DE shaving. As a tool for an easy, smooth shave, it is very handy. Great travel option which could easily be used without a brush.

What part about it makes it less fun and more chore? I'd say the lack of lathering, but you said you can get it to lather (seen others say the same, but I could never do it).

Also, I've only used the Coates lime (my skin didnt seem to like it). What scent do you use? Any recommendations? I thought of trying another as the guy who bought up the lot of it seems to still be out there selling them.

I just really enjoy the hard puck, load, lather thing. As you can tell, I see the value of Cremo because I didn't get rid of it all. I think the plastic razor combined with the Cremo just doesn't appeal to me even though it gets the job done. Kind of like some people don't like oatmeal when as we all know it's the best breakfast on the planet. (right? Right?). Favorite Coates is tea tree.

Hmm, I might look into the teatree. Do you find the scent is still there after 10+ years?
