Himalayan Heights v. (Meißner Tremonia) deodar cedar

Cedar goes well with those overcast spring mornings that are easily confused with fall. It strikes me as the quintessential autumn scent, pairing just as easily with pungent chrysanthemums as with freshly cut kindling for the fireplace. For this soap, MT uses a cedar oil expressed from the deodar tree, which grows in the Himalaya. The scent is softer and sweeter than Virginian cedar oil (think pencil shavings) or Texas cedar oil (warm tar). The deodar cedar also has a camphoraceous note that's sort of apothecarian. I'm a sucker for fragrances that hover on the edge of medicinal. I can't keep my snout out of this jar.

Bouki, I think that a book containing your impressions, notes and reviews needs to happen at some point. Smile I’m a big fan of your posts, and am always delighted when I notice that a new “installment” has appeared. Furthermore, I feel more educated after reading your posts, and really appreciate what you share with the rest of us!

Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”

A&E Amber Rose shaving soap. It's good, but I don't like it enough to keep it in my regular rotation, so I'll pass it on to someone else.

Amber-Rose-Incense-Tobacco...sounds like this would be a winning combo. Was it too "sweet" for your liking?

No, the fragrance was light but pleasant. But the quality of the lather, while acceptable, just didn't equal that of my vintage Floris, Penhaligon's, C&E, XPEC, etc.
