Traditionnel v. (Le Père Lucien)
rosemary, thyme, lavender
(Day 3) – This deep green scented soap seemed like a fine fit for a St Patrick's day shave. Turns out, though, I've been doing it all wrong for a long time. Traditionnel used to be housed in a little 4 ounce tub that barely allowed me to get a brush on it. I had some abysmal shaves because I couldn't get enough soap into the solution. So, I started to scoop out some product and smear that in the bottom of my lather bowl. This, I thought, would ensure that I got lots of soap in my suds. The method seemed to be working well until I noticed that parts of the soap weren't melting into the lather. Gritty sandy bits were left in the bottom of the bowl. It looked like my slippers after a day on the beach. Time for a new approach.
Yesterday I scooped up the whole wad of soap, gave it all a good kneading, and smashed it flat into a 6 ounce Colt-Ainer tub. Ahhhh! Lots more surface to work a brush over and a far better load. I may stick with Traditionnel for a little while until I've got it figured out. The scent screams
Spring! and the finish is so smooth my face glides over my pillow, even at 4:00 am.
