What soap/cream did you use today?

I've always wanted to give Vintage Williams a try and thank you Pennsylvania for providing the opportunity. Two days ago Ina small antique store I found three razors, (2 Superspeed flair tips and 1ball end tech) all NOS. feeling pretty good about finding these razors, which will be gifted to friends, I was wandering toward the register and my eye caught an old soap bowl still in a cellophane wrapper. I had no idea what it was but for two bucks I'd risk it just for the bowl. When I opened it up in the rental I was pleased to see Currier and Ives Soap Bowl by Williams. Well, the bowl is not worth the effort as it is dried, cracked, and warped but the soap? Oh, my the soap! Easy to load. Easy to lather. Reminds me of Mickey Lee soap in regards to lathering. It's old. Scent is all but gone and this is not the Williams lemon scent nor a rose scent but a woody scent that may well be a transfer from the bowl it sits in. At any rate the cream is glorious. Slick. Loads of cushion. Easy to get shiney. Williams, what did you do? Modern Williams is not anywhere near this class of suds. Post shave feel is on par with most soaps I use. I'll be using this one to the bottom and keep my eye peeled for another.

Wow, what a find... What a day! Awesome luck there. Personally, if the soap is sans scent I'd pass. That makes the soap experience for me. Still, those NOS Gillettes make it great indeed.

Not the first, or even the fifth, time I heard stories like this. I definitely need to start visiting some antique shops. Lol.

Good choice my man. Smells remarkably like my old AOS sandalwood. I use the Santal Absolut aftershave and it lasts pretty much all day.

Roger that brother. It has tremendous longevity for an afs. I like the aos as you do [asb] and pair frequently!

Crema da Barba v. (Santa Maria Novella) ★★★☆☆ eucalyptus, menthol, Tobacco Toscano cologne

The blend of aromas – green sappy eucalyptus, rich tobacco, and light refreshing menthol - is the best part of this cream. The bouquet is dark enough not to insult a pre-dawn shave, but still bright enough to get the day started on an optimistic note. The performance, unfortunately, is just acceptable. Considering the price, I held high hopes for so much more. True, a generous dollop of cream makes a dense, wet lather that offers good slickness. But like many creams (so often thin on cushion) Crema da Barba left me with a mild burn and some tightness. A soothing balm was a good idea. Another good idea may be to just skip the cream altogether and put your money instead on a bottle of Tobacco Toscano acqua di colonia. That's where the pleasure in this shave lies.

Ogallala Bay Rum Peppercorns Limes Shave Soap

Last shave in Pennsylvania before I return to Idaho. It's 32F in Harrisburg this morning and it'll be -8F at my home when I get there. My bride will be in exciting FLANNEL! I chose Cremo in Bourbon this morning. Love the scent. Performance is ok. Don't care for the process. That said, it is easy for a minimalist approach but this was not a minimalist trip. I'll keep a small container I the kit but have already PIFd the big tube. Make it a great day gents.
