Latha (Barrister & Mann) ★★★☆☆ lavender, oakmoss, heliotrope
This is the original scent of the now defunct Latha line of soaps. There's one dose left in my sample tublet, but I can't bring myself to finish it off. The scent just doesn't work for me. The heliotrope is so sweet the puck smells like bubblegum. When you make up some suds, the oakmoss surfaces, but it's not strong enough to balance the cloying sweetness of the flowers. If only the moss were a little bolder, we could have had something like a floral chypre.
The lather was very good, though, and I'm sorry to see this excellent and still affordable line of soap discontinued.
