I wanted a bit of citrus sunshine this wintery morning and have not had this one in rotation for a long while. Dr. Johns Hydra is a snootful of citrus. I like the scent but in my hard water it is only a middling performer (which isn't bad). I doesn't seem to care how much soap I load or water I add, lather looks great but protection and slickness just don't hang with my favorites. This is the old formula and I cannot speak to the current soap. Many people like it a lot. I suspect water is the issue for me.
I agree with your assessment. Not that great

It's been eight hours since I shaved and my face still feels like I just put the razor down. If I'm reading their Web site right, 30% of the formula is Shea butter. That makes for an extraordinarily rich finish. NSS Signature soap has turned out to be a very happy surprise. I say 'surprise' because with a name like 'Silly Soap', I really wasn't expecting much. But it delivered by the boatload and has given some of my best shaves ever. Unlike some vegan soaps, NSS Signature will soak up lots of water. It doesn't turn glossy or heavy, but it does give ample protection for a comfortable three-pass shave. The scent is a rose-oud that's within sniffing distance of Montale's Black Aoud fragrance.

I'm very sorry to see this sample all turned to suds, but I'll put Moroccan Sands at the top of my wish list. After I've churned through a few more tubs on my shelf, I'll fill the gap with a full four ounces of this slick and smooth soap.

You convinced me to give this one a try. Need a good rose oud.

Have you tried WSP Citrus Blast? If you're into citrus scents, this may be up[ your alley. Personally, it has too much citrus for my liking Smile
