Thé Noir & Vanille (Noble Otter) ★★★★★ sweet tea & fresh jasmine
I don't smell much vanilla, and to be honest I don't miss it at all. In its place I get the most refined jasmine, blossom and stem, that I've ever smelled in a shave soap. The puck itself starts off with the aroma of sweet ice tea, but a few drops of water and a brush send the tea notes into the background, while the lather blooms into a truly lovely light floral as fresh as if you'd just plucked it off the bush. It's a clever transformation, this note switching, something you don't often see in a shaving lather, and it put a big smile on my face.
The lather comes together without any fuss. Though a little lighter than Wholly Kaw or Tallow+Steel, it might be slicker than both, and it certainly offers a full cushion. It finishes dry and smooth. At this muggy time of the year I got by just fine without any aftershave.
