Rose (Martin de Candre) ★★★☆☆ rubber potpourri

Apart from its price, I'm not finding anything in this soap that's truly exceptional. Now, I can't fault the lather. It's thick and velvety and washes away clean, like many other vegetable lathers I've sampled. But the scent is a real disappointment. Though billed as rose, to me it smells like a rubber tire left in the sun. Perhaps there is some rose in the mix, but its dry and dusty like old potpourri. And then there's the cost. True, I get about 24 shaves per ounce of MdC soap; so, it certainly does last longer than most of my other soaps, which on average yield about 18 shaves per ounce. But a jar of MdC Rose is nearly four times the price of my average tub of soap. And unfortunately, it doesn't offer either the outstanding quality or longevity commensurate with its premium price.
