Getting great lathers from this soap, and the scent is brilliant.

Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”

Instead of trying to load my brush from the puck, I took a cuticle tool and scooped a big dollop of soap from the tub and smeared it in the scuttle. The first few swirls with the synthetic brush conjured up clouds of foam. I thought I was going to get another infirm lather, but after working the suds for about a minute the foam suddenly became a solid, thick meringue. It was an astonishing transformation. Thick, fragrant, and stable, the lather didn't melt before my eyes like yesterday's. In fact, I had enough for at least five passes. This was the real stuff, like you see in other people's pictures. I guess my problem with Le Père Lucien's soaps all along was that my brush failed to soak up enough soap for a lasting lather. I may chain a little ¼ teaspoon scoop to the tin to remind me how best to use this soap

Today I started an 8-day comparison trial of original Acqua di Parma Colonia soap and the more modern Acqua di Parma soap, during which I will alternate between them each day, using the same scuttle, brush, and razor with each. Today I used the original version (with the gold lid), which gave me a wonderful BBS shave, as always. The lather required moderate effort to produce rich, fragrant lather with excellent body and lubrication. I used aftershave, but it was obvious that the soap's skin care was quite good.
