Cool (Barrister & Mann) citrus, oakmoss
The puck is all about citrus and a dab of lavender, but the lather is a moss lover’s delight. This is one of Barrister & Mann’s softer soaps. I smeared the ample sample into a six-ounce tub and then loaded a synthetic brush gingerly. The first stages of lathering reminded me of L&L’s soap. I got a gluey, stringy texture. I added water, but Cool didn’t seem to call for as much hydration as the white label soaps. Though my brush didn’t look even half loaded, it made enough lather for five passes. The first pass served as a pre-soak. It was followed by three passes with a blade. The final slathering was the post-shave treatment. All in all, a very nice shave and a bewitching scent that doesn’t open up fully until water and air are added to the mix.
