Desmond’s Barrow Mossly Lime

Many thanks to Blade4vor for sending me a sample of this soap. This was my first shave with Desmond’s Barrow, and I now understand all the positive remarks I have been seeing.

The soap is easy to lather. The lather is very smooth, comforting even. It’s also stable — I re-lathered before cleaning up my shaving equipment, and the lather was perfectly fine several minutes later, contrary to some others which have dissipated during that time. Post-shave felt nice, and I like the scent, which is a refined lime scent that was subtle, yet easily detectable, and caused no unpleasant sensations on my relatively sensitive skin. Great shave!

Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”

Matt, I'm so glad you like Desmond's Barrow because I have become a huge fan of Peter's products.  The scents he develops are intriguing and, yet, they are somehow recognizable.  The lather, performance, and post shave feel are second to none.

No. 88 (Czech & Speake) gothic rose

No. 88 has been described as gothic, darkly moody, with a slight air of decay about it. This soap is like a vampire who keeps coming back no matter how brutal you’ve been to him. I’ve been thrashing the last wispy remnants of this puck for several days, but like a revenant, it just won’t disappear. In return for my harsh treatment, it gives me sumptuous grey-white lather and a near perfect shave.

Slight menthol and wonderful fruity notes, this is on of my few "seasonals". I don't usually relegate scents to specific times of year but mentholated soaps and highly fruity fragrances tend to stay summery, and this one definitely fits that bill...
