Anvil (Through the Fire Fine Craft) bergamot & black pepper

A big pinch of freshly ground black pepper can bring tears to your eyes, while just a sprinkling will give a bland pile of mashed potatoes sweetness and body. It works the same with scents. Too much pepper and you end up smelling like turkey stuffing all day, but just a few drops of pepper essence can make a thin scent substantial. It goes especially well with fruit or citrus notes, rounding off sharp edges and setting everything in soft focus. Black pepper and bergamot is a plain, satisfying pairing that suits this soap’s simplicity. Apart from the fragrance, there are only four other ingredients, and that’s all it takes for a close shave and a perfect finish.

Bouki has an interesting essay about pepper. I read it all.

Here is the soap I used today.
