Himalayan Heights (Meißner Tremonia) magnolia, cedar, cement
This smells like soap, to begin with, the type that spurts out of the automatic dispenser at the lavatory in a central European train station. When the water hits it a few light lemony notes from the magnolia oil introduce the deodar cedar. It’s an unusual evergreen smell, a darker, duller cedar scent. Then something odd happens. The lather starts smelling dusty, like old books. It's not the vanilla smell of aging paper. Instead, it’s the smell of dust on a book that hasn’t been opened for decades. I suppose that’s the talc or the clay. After a few minutes the scent stops morphing and settles into the smell of warm concrete with some floral overtones. Does the scent evoke the “grandeur of the Himalaya peaks”? It reminds me more of a sunny afternoon in a city park. Still, it's interesting to trace the changes this scent goes through.
The product description mentions spicy notes and Himalayan salt. I didn’t pick up either, but I did get a good shave, thanks in part to the rock solid protection this soap offers. Tallow, babassu palm oil, glycerin, and jojoba oil keep the lather slick and your face feeling smooth. Only the lemony smell of magnolia blossoms lingers after the last rinse.

Bouki, have you abandoned the five-star rating system? Great review, nevertheless! Perhaps Meißner Tremonia should change the name of this soap to Concrete Jungle.
Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”

There are so many excellent soaps these days! It's hard to find one I wouldn't recommend, even after only one shave. But to be thorough, and fair, I thought I should try a soap a few times before giving it a rating. So, instead of peppering my entries with blue stars every time I write about a soap, I decided to hold the rating until I had lathered it at least five times.

That makes sense, and sounds like a wise decision. (Oh, and I agree — there are very few soaps that I haven’t enjoyed during my journey so far. We are lucky to have so many skilled soap makers in the business.)
