1912 Cashmere (Wickham) ★★★★ basil, bergamot, white patchouli, oak moss
This may be the best smelling soap on my shelf. I get an impression of freshly sliced pineapple, garnished with a basil leaf, and served on a bed of moss. The first three notes are blended so well it took several sniffs to sort them out. I think it's safe to call Cashmere a barbershop scent. But its patchouli, described as white patchouli by the artisan, has an altogether different quality from your typical barbershop patchouli. It's very light and clean and a little soapy, the polar opposite of the common Woodstock patchouli. It’s nice and it stays in the back. The oak moss brings sparkle as well as some foundation. With a pinch of black pepper Cashmere could be confused with Penhaligon’s Blenheim Bouquet.
After the last rinse this soap leaves your face smooth and crisp. There’s some allantoin in the mix, but without any tallow, you don’t get that waxy feeling that some soaps leave behind.

This sounds promising — I say that, because I have a jar of this soap en route. I’m also curious — what would have earned the soap a final fifth star, if I may ask?
Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”
