Sandalwood (Cold River Soap Works) rooty woods, nuts & damp earth
(Day 1) — This soap reminds me of November afternoons when the damp soil, covered with fallen nuts, leaves, and roots, gives up a spicy mustiness. It's not really a tropical smell, like you get from sweet Mysore sandalwood, but it is deep and rich, and the vetiver and dark woody resins on the fringe give it an earthy intensity. The nuttiness isn’t as pronounced on the puck as it is in the scuttle.
I hydrated the lather until it was the consistency of house paint and just as glossy. The soap holds a ridiculous amount of water, and after a close, comfortable shave, finishes like satin.
