What soap/cream did you use today?

So good I did ‘er again this morning. Cedar is getting it for me right now. Perhaps tomorrow morning it’ll be a threepeat or perhaps castle Forbes cedar.  Maybe Meissner warm woods. One can never tell.

Cool smells like the classic aftershave Floïd Blue (1932). Notes of bergamot, oakmoss, mint, and labdanum give it a fresh but still earthy scent. With this mix of resin, moss, and citrus, I suppose we’ll have to call it a chypre. Here’s why I chose it. I’m reading The Maltese Falcon (1930), and for some reason, Cool reminds me of the detective Sam Spade from the book. They’re both a mix of clean and dirty, and they just seem to fit together perfectly in my mind.

TommyCarioca has been raving about this Omnibus base, and he’s right. It’s truly fantastic. A wee dab of soap is all it takes to make a tremendous mound of thick, slick, well cushioned lather that gives a painless three-pass shave. And the finish is smooth but not greasy. Very nice.
