Clay Face
Honolulu, Hawaii
Island Estate (Sir Henry’s) smooth bay rum
Shave 6 ・ 100 g left

For all you fans of the pig puff, how long does it take you to break in a boar brush? I’m working with a Semogue 620. It’s a fine little number with nine shaves on it so far, but it’s still quite stiff. And though the ends of the bristles are starting to split, they still eat lather like a pack of lions that have just pulled down a wildebeest. I like a brush that shares the booty. Until I get a consistent foam out of this brush, I may just stick with this Island Estate. It’s an easy loading, easy lathering soap.

Bouki The hairs on different models can vary but ths is something I found about your model. Sounds like it may take longer than some others. It's important to let it dry thoroughly between uses as it's the drying cycle that helps it break in I believe. This is why I like used Boars that people get tired of breaking in. They've done the hard work for me and got me closer to my soft boar Big Grin Best wishes !

"I bought a Semologue 620 two months ago. I used it daily for the first 30 days to break it in. Like you I towel dried my brush after use and hung it handle up until the next day. It took about 3-4 weeks for the bristle ends to split. It was a nice brush with good backbone when I first started using it. As it became broken in, the tips softened while the brush still maintained its firm backbone. Its a great brush, well worth the wait till the tips soften."

Ethos 50% Nuage de Citron and 50% Unscented, then a drop of a special lemon aroma blend from Frank.

Nuage does have sandalwood as a base note so I like to tamp that down.  It gives the lemon a creaminess but I do have asthma so I am careful on my sandalwood scents.

The base is amazing.  This is one of the few I don’t need anything other than a splash with.  No oily post shave, no stickiness, it’s just right for me.   You will know where the extra dollars went!
DTV. Yes sir. That creamy vanilla lemon is really classy. If I were to choose one soap every day for the rest of my life, it would be this one or Vetivert. Frank's new F base, IMHO, is an order of magnitude better than the early version. And that is not a dig - just a fact that the improvement, at least for a face latherer like me were very palpable.

I get it, Vetivert is up soon too!  For me it would be Ethos Bay Rum, but I’m a Bay Rum Junkie!

School me up, what does DTV mean?

Is it the same as PPR (Price Performance Ratio)?

Bluegrass is right.... Downtown! Too many years in the oil and gas biz has led to a chronic habit of slang and nickname usage.
