Good to have the Ripper back. Good looking son and pretty fish. Nice red beard on that boy.

Bouki, try Tabac for a week, and it will take you over.

Boys, per FaceScraper's advice, I am shaving with the Fat for 7 days in a row. I am hoping to dial her in a bit more.

The plan: using distilled water again per Danny, and I have 'scored' one side of the soap, and placed this scored side face down in a 5mm bath of distilled water to soak in between shaves. My ceramic container arrived broken, so I am using the puck as a shave stick and then loading & then going to face lathering.

Monday is shave 3. The lather is already better per the bath, shave stick, and puck scoring. Will provide pix and a full report on Monday the 10th.

C U all tomorrow

Salty Sea Sage (Meißner Tremonia) sage
Shave 5 ・ 950 shaves left

This is a rock hard puck of sea blue soap. (Well, actually it’s two pucks of Salty Sea Sage mashed together. There was plenty of room in the jar so I popped a refill on top of the original charge.) Together they will last forever. I’ll be surprised if I get much less than a thousand shaves out of this one jar. We’re going to be seeing a lot of each other over the coming decades. I wish I liked the smell. Maybe familiarity will breed respect.

Lads, I appreciate your stirring comments in regard to Tabac. At one point I had quite a heap of the stuff, but something about the scent just didn't work for me, so I passed on most of my stash to better homes. Now there’s only one tallow-based puck left. I thought long and hard about chucking it, but thanks to you I’m going to try to love again.

Hmmmm .... I don't see any soap in that tub. HoosierShave, are we looking at a 'done and dusted' shaving product? I'm thinking congratulations may be in order.  Big Grin

Dang, Lip! Same thing happened to me. I had a small sample of Poggio dei Pini that I adored. All piney and herby and windy. Loved it so much, in fact, I bought a whole tub of the stuff. But when it arrived and I took a whiff, my cheeks sagged. Smelled like the chintz drapes and floral prints in milady's boudoir. I gave it to Mrs Bouki. She used it as hand soap for a while, and then it mysteriously disappeared. Don't think either of us missed it.

Also this weekend was spent in those Idaho hills surrounded by family.  Took Friday evening off for some much needed fly flicking and my oldest son (Teton Shaves) went along.  Here is a picture of the best fish we caught on our three hour float.  We turned it loose but it needs to be more careful because it had a hole through its operculum (gill plate) where a heron likely hit it with its bill.  Be careful old son and stay alive for our next meeting.

Thank you for sharing your lifestyle in harmony with nature. Enjoy the photos from Nero, you and VTMax so much

Might I suggest leaving your soap container open for a week or so, have found anecdotally that airing helps many scents.

Doin just that!  Hope beyond hope that the dusty heat-laden pine comes back

This post deserves much more than just a thumbs up, like! Glad you had some good times and memories made!!
Agreed!  This boy has given me 6 grandchildren.  He doesn’t have nearly enough time to fling flies with the old man so I do enjoy the time we get.  I generally row and he fishes but in a few years that’ll change.  He’ll be in the rowers seat and I’ll be up front. And no, it’s not because he’s not good.  He rowed LaMoyne Hyde (maker of the boat) and Jack Dennis (Jackson Hole fly fishing legend) in a one-fly competition a few years back.  I just love to row and he loves to fish.

Good call! For a long time, it was my #1, and it's always with me on out of town trips, the mini aluminum dish stays in my dopp bag. But usually I bring others too, so № 88 doesn't always get pulled for duty. My trips are usually short and I only shave every other day on average.

I also like using it when there's rain (during or after). We have some in the forecast, so I hope to remember to use it.

Consecutive Daily Shaves - # 1,428

From the house of the Bluegrass Boy TommyCarioca (although he is in the witness protection program and in an undisclosed state at the current writing of this  Big Grin) I've been curious about this Company for awhile and thankful for the generous gift along with others to come in future shaves. This is described as a nice Bay scent. I get a subtle but enjoyable lemony citrus. The lather was dry and airy at 1st start and as water was added.....slowly, I got a wetter but thinner consistency with bubbles and was afraid to push it any further and break it. It had a tendancy to dissipate as people say Modern Williams does but I got a nice enjoyable shave with it and I'm happy to be able to try this brand and quench my curiousity. Today some electrical upgrade work in the shave den bathroom is slated for accomplishment......Busy week this week.....everyone have a great day !
