Shave 10 ・ 64 g left

The other day I was bemoaning the loss of cade oil in L’Occitane’s Cade shaving cream. Well, today I’ve found my consolation. Tallow + Steel’s Morocco is the grungiest take on cade I could ever hope for. This is full-on juniperus oxycedrus oil that's been only lightly diluted with cypress and oakmoss. It’s intense, it’s smoky, and it’s sticky. In other words, it smells like burning tar. I love it, although I have to confess, it’s so strong it would be hard to use it more than two days in a row. One more thing I should be clear about. My tub of Morocco dates from 2018. Since then Tallow + Steel have revamped the fragrance. The current version of Morocco appears to be a woody rose with no cade in the recipe at all. Pity. Like L’Occitane, they’ve let something good get away.

A light load, only about 5 minutes of face-lathering, and 1.5 passes on nearly 3 days growth is a good recipe for a less-than-great shave.

Man,  you Bluegrass boys are very observant. I changed my mind on the brush right b4 the shave.  We western KY boys are not nearly as shrewd and obviously oscillate too much.

Seaforth! Heather (Spearhead) musty fougère
Shave 8 ・ 113 g left

Now if I was emperor of the world, I’d take a page from the French revolutionaries’ playbook and rename all the months of the year. But instead of deriving the new names by pure rational thought, I’d simply call each month after my favorite scent for that season. So, December would be called Spice, January would become Woods, while February would be named Fougère! And what better way to usher in this green and gorgeous time of year (high of 79°F down here today) than with Spearhead’s rich, full-bodied interpretation of the fern? Five-fingered snaps to Shawn Maher (hawns) for coming up with this slightly off-center take on this classic scent. I admit, there was something a little gaggy about it at first. Maybe it was a bit musty in the basement. But I’ve learned to love it as one of the finest fougères around. And if you don’t believe me, just ask Whiterook.
