What soap/cream did you use today?

OK…the holidays are over. Moving on towards spring on this snowy Friday morning courtesy of Ethos Lavender Supreme v1.

I don’t know what it is about the scent of Ol’ Kentucky that reminds me of Big John (my father) but it sure does.  I don’t believe he wore any scent other than Old Spice or Avon, he wasn’t a bourbon man nor did he whup me with oak staves but when I slather it around my chops it conjures images of my Pop. This pic of him was not very representative of him with the Hawaiian shirt and light trousers.  The hat was ubiquitous though.  He had a hat on first thing in the morning until he came in to bed.  This straw hat was not common for him.  Usually it was a Stetson felt and he had two.  One work hat and one town/church hat.  When the town hat got too dingy to be a town hat it became a work hat and the work hat was retired.  Color was ALWAYS silver belly.  He wore a cowboy hat on every river trip I was on.  He work a cowboy hat to the back country of Alaska.  The hat let me know where he was when he slipped under water while fighting a King Salmon.  I know of a couple of restaurants that have one of his hats as decor.  Stetson hat and Tony Llama boots and during river season that bushy red beard.  He taught me how to ride and rope.  He taught me how to castrate and brand.  He taught me a love of great literature.  He taught me how to read a wild river and how to teach folks to poop in the woods.  He taught me a love of skiing, athletics, outdoors, and people.  He taught me how to play and work hard.  Missing you this morning Pop.

Today was one of those "hurried" mornings.  I needed a quick 2-pass shave and thought SH Sandalwood would produce a quick lather to speed up the process. Well, I was wrong.  As far as the lather goes, yes, it was quick/easy and worked out great.  So why was SH Sandalwood a bad choice for a hurried shave?  The scent, gents, the scent!  There is a strong (at least to me) lavender component to go along with the sandalwood.  This results in a wonderfully "creamy" scent that is intoxicating.  In other words, I did not want to stop face-lathering.  Thanks a lot for making me late to my appointment dominicr!  Just kidding...thanks for a wonderful addition to the den!

Father was a Russian emigre, what we would term refugee today.  Merry Christmas as it yet my preferred Holiday.

Swear to God, if humidity above 15%, SH Sandalwood erupts in copious overflowing rich lather.  Never encountered any soap easier to whip up
