When I first tried El Jefe back in September I wrote, “It’s sweet and pungent but still smooth with a definite spicy nuance. I get a hint of cinnamon. (If you’re sensitive to spicy scents, you may come away with some ruddy cheeks. Mine faded to pale within five minutes.).” Since then dominicr and his team have tweaked the scent. It’s smoother now, and muskier, and not quite so spicy. The other day he sent me a generous sample, and that’s what I lathered today. Same great performance as always, but this time no red cheeks. In fact, there’s nothing but perfect smoothness. I’m always amazed by this soap base. It’s vegetable, but it’s as thick and oozy as any tallow lather, and it gives excellent protection. Great work.

Mystic Water Marrakesh

Bold bold scent for MW - I meanq the scent strength on this is a 9/10. Wowser. Right up there in scent strength as Tabac.

This is a patch bomb! Not a smooth chocolate warm version, but a cold green species..... Man-o man.... . this is for the male species. Pairs fairly with Federic Malle French Lover [terrible name for this btw] . Puck chosen today per the weather in the bluegrass : 39 degrees this morning!

Rosa Bourbon t. (Eufros) rich rose

Rosa Bourbon is not a complex, powdery rose, nor is it especially fruity. Instead, it’s an intense, pure rose, the kind I smell when I bury my nose in the full bloom of my favorite Bourbon rose, La Reine Victoria. These roses were first grown on Réunion, an island in the Indian ocean that was once known as Bourbon. That's why they're called Bourbon roses. Bourbon roses bloom often, and with each flush they give off a deep, rich rosy scent. I think of all the rose-scented soaps I’ve tried, this Rosa Bourbon by far the most roselike. But a strong contender to the throne is on its way. Soap Commander’s Love should step up to the plate tomorrow.
