I googled that question this morning and came up with the following responses: citrus, lemongrass, ginger, fresh green grass, licorice, carrot seed, gasoline, balsam, peanuts, decayed vegetation, wet cement, spices, wood, leather, metal, musk, rust, smoke, ash, scorched earth, damp earth, dry earth, roots.I would add to that list of vetiver scent impressions one that rears its head in some unfortunate cases: pickles.
Thanks, Matsilainen! I'll add that to the list along with another I just heard about: "beet root."
What about everyone else? What does vetiver remind you of?

Tabac has too many notes for me to pick individual scents out but what I can state is it smells like “man”. No, it doesn’t smell like motor oil or gun cleaner or whisky. It smells like a suit and tie. It smells like polished leather and mahogany desks. It smells like success. Masculine floral perhaps is the best way to describe it, but most of you already know what it smells like.
