Bay Rum t. (Barrister & Mann) orange bay rum
BM’s soaps are so predictably perfect that sometimes I overlook them. In my hunt for exotic and unusual soaps and scents, I forget just how excellent this homegrown brand is. I’ve never had a bad shave with one of Will's soaps. In fact, BM serves as my benchmark for how a truly great soap should perform. Have all the scents been to my liking? Not by a long shot. I’ve probably discarded twice as many BM soaps as I’ve kept, but those that remain (Cheshire, Seville, Beaudelaire, Le Petit & Le Grand Chypres, and of course, Bay Rum) are among the finest fragrances on my shelf. So why did I let their Bay Rum sit untouched for six months? New, this soap had a strong orange note that clobbered the bay and the rum. It reminded me of Christmas wassail. But citrus notes are flighty, and with time the Minute Maid vibe has toned down. This morning I got a very nice, balanced bay rum, still a bit fruity, but in much better harmony with the spicy bay.

My oh my, I do dig this soap. A little late getting this post up as it's very early Sunday morning and this was yesterday's shave. Black Ties Sir Henry's Sandalwood is bomb diggity deliciousness. Easy, no VERY easy to load and lather. The scent is heavenly. I think I shared this before but my adult daughter says this is the scent of sexy Santa. I don't understand her statement but I suppose it's due to the bit of vanilla in the accord. It is a classy scent that keeps a bit of "fun" around too. Best thing though is this soap fits into my "hug" soap category meaning the lather just seems to belong on my mug. To put it there with a fistful of fur? Glorious. Great whisker jerk yesterday morning.

So dang exorbitantly expensive, but really slick. I mean hard to hold the razor slick if you get any on ya'.
Very nice almond-cherry scent - pretty strong [6/10].
Easy to build that 'low-rise' yogurt like lather.
Top shelf stuff - packaging over the top. Glad i have it but I have lost my mind with the SAD! I guess Boellis will have to be next, and then time to get my head examined.
