used Beehive Soaps Bay Rum which smelled remarkably like sandalwood.  This soap is not particularly thirsty but it produced a stable and slick lather.  Fluffy like its steric first ingredient.  I have never heard of them before but the lather is perfectly satisfactory.

Art of Shaving Sandalwood shaving soap (tallow).  It easily made excellent lather that was quite slick but not quite as rich and thick as I prefer.  The fragrance had a strong underlying clay tone, which I don't really like a lot.  I think I'll add Coate's cream to it next time to try to improve the smell.

I was perusing the Gifts & Care website this evening when I came across this soap.  I remembered your question from this morning and thought, at the very least, I could share the brand with you.  I've never tried it, so I have no idea how good the lather/scents are or whether it's worth buying.
That's a very black soap. Thanks for posting the picture. Definitely one I'll want to add to my list.  Smile
Found another one this afternoon:

For a triple milled soap, SA is disappearing surprisingly fast. After only twenty shaves it’s halfway gone. It’s also 2½ years old, but age hasn’t dimmed the scent or dulled the performance in any way. It still smells rich and bright, full of juicy citrus and sharp woods. The lather stays slick and stable. I wish it would last forever, but it looks like I’ll be ordering another puck sometime in the next three years. Better start saving now.

Love that puck. Scent mates well with. Le Labo Bergamot 22!
