Today was my first ride with the Alpha Spirit. I had a really thick beard after several shaveless days at the beach, so today's shave was hardly typical. That said, the shave was incredibly smooth, and I really enjoyed the razor's weight, balance, and handling. The older I get, the more I appreciate lighter weight razors, and at 62g, the Spirit is on the lighter side for stainless steel. Efficiency was harder to judge. Today's bottom line: BBS cheeks, DFS neck, zero blood. This was neither my closest nor my most meticulous shave, but time will tell, and even as it is, I'm guessing the Spirit will continue to be be an enjoyable tool.

This was an A/B shave between these two razors to see which would do better with a Feather Pro blade. Without the shim, I felt both of these razors had about the same level of efficiency. I preferred the grip of the AS-D2 handle over the OREN and preferred the maneuverability of the Romulus over the OREN as well. I can probably load a blade quicker in the OREN than in the Romulus and it is nice to have a one-piece razor (effectively). Sometimes the OREN handle can get slippery. Both did a great job and I was pleased with the overall results.
