What SB did you use today?

Yesterday Maggards synth. Wow, this is really well made. For some reason it's less springy, not floppy at all. The knot covers a pretty big area. The whole experience was as pleasant and as easy as it could be.

Later today, RR the Bruce!

I just used the Bruce tonight. How do you like it compared to the Maggard?

Just finished shaving 10 minutes ago. I find the Bruce has more scrub and backbone and wins in that department.. it's really interesting how different specifications can make quite the difference between brushes with the same knot material (I think they are the same).

I prefer the Bruce handle to the Maggards, however the Maggards wins just marginally with it's face feel and luxurious splay. Both are excellent, really soft brushes and I'm happy I have them both in my den.

The Bruce had enough for a 4th pass from loading a Cade puck for about 15-20 seconds. Just fantastic.

New Forest 2201 2-Band Superior Badger. It's a shame these are no longer in production as they are great brushes that sold at reasonable prices. I believe andrewjs18 is also a fan of these brushes. Anyone else?

definitely a fan of them, though I haven't seen a need to use any badgers since I started using synthetics.

Due to bad arthritis in my hands I tried to make a brush that I could use comfortably.
I have no lathe but over a period of almost 4 weeks I got this thing finished.
It is made of 24mm synthetic fiber. Maple. Pill bottle cap. $2 coin (Twonie in Canadian).
Four coats of Clear automobile lacquer. Nail polish. Lotsa sweat.

I gave it its first test today. It passed with flying colours. Tomorrow is its final exam.
Feel free to laugh.
