IMHO, there are factors of grade/quality, expectation of performance and setting preparation that make up the $100+ for a knot only price tag. I’m embarrassed to tell you I’ve purchased magical $400+ brushes and if I were to make the purchase again, the Artisan would have to pay me to use their brush and I certainly wouldn’t compliment these duds with a SOTD(05-21-2021, 01:37 PM)ExtraProtein Wrote:I've never tried knot $ 100 +. Unfortunately, I cannot compare ... But, the Fanchurian V8 is an amazing knot. I have two of them and I am very happy with them. You also have a very beautiful brush, Rob!(05-20-2021, 03:18 AM)Polovez Wrote: Grizzly bay Fanchurian V8The V8 Fanchurian is pretty special. I’m amazed by its performance. It will crush some of the $100+ knots
The artistic ingenuity and overall quality has to be of the highest standard, AND hit all my requirements before I blindly spend $400+ on a brush or $180+ on a knot. If I spend $300+ on a brush, I will decide its colour, shape and size. The Artisan won’t make those decisions for me, I need their expertise after “I” make those decisions. I’m paying them top dollar for “their” experience and knowledge of this craft.
I’ll take chances with $100-$200 complete brushes. I’ll plan my purchase for $300+ Shave Swag expenditures
