What SB did you use today?

My designated soap-killer.  When I first started using it, I wasn't too happy with the loft.  I really felt it was set too low for such a soft knot.  But after using it to take down several soaps this year, I realize that extra backbone is greatly beneficial for loading up a ton of soap!

That looks like an AP Synbad...

I have one in a my Trotter Handcrafts brush. I thought it was going to sit too low compared to others, including the Yaqi Moka (which seems to be the same knot, by looks at least). I set it two quarters higher (3.5mm taller) and it almost matches the Yaqi now.

I too was turned off by the limp feeling of it (presuming yours is the Synbad too). However, so far I am surprised by the lather this thing can produce. It's also, likely, my softest knot.

I do take issue with the name 'Synbad', which I presume refers to a synthetic badger. IMO, it's more like a synth horsehair, because of the floppy-ness. Regardless, it's working well.

That's correct, sir...the AP 30mm Synbad.  Do you by any chance have a Cashmere knot?  The Cashmere, Synbad, and Motherload are the softest knots I've tried.  But the Synbad does seem to load up more soap and, like you said, just produces a killer-lather
