I used the Good Vibrations soap this morning followed by a free sample of CaD balm that was a bonus "toss-in" with the rest of my order. The scent of the soap really does remind me of mid-summer boardwalk strolls past the open barbershop door...sunscreen, coconut oil, talc...I could almost hear the Beach Boys during my shave this morning. Fantastic slickness, excellent cushion(dense, but not voluminous Wink ), and great, summery scent.

The CaD balm smelled great, but I am not a fan of aftershave balms. Application is an issue for me. I don't like the way balms feel in my hands or on my head until they dry down and dissipate. All balms, not just this one, though this one is thicker than the others I have tried. Not to my liking, but it smelled as it should(classic barbershop), and performed at it should leaving my scalp feeling nicely toned and well-moisturized.

The Ibis Shavette again performed beyond my expectations. The handle gets in the way a little bit, but I think this is a limitation of my technique more than the tool. Afterall, this was only my second time holding the thing, so I imagine the experience will only improve with practice.

I really like the 9 splash. Havent used the soap, yet, but both the soap and splash on are my list of "must have"...

In my experience, his splashes tend to last as long as an EdT, at least. My experience with EdTs is very limited, admittedly, but compared to other aftershave splashes, the scent profiles in PAA last much, MUCH longer than, say, Stirling or Italian Barber. The only aftershaves I have that last as long as a PAA aftershaves are Pinaud Clubman and Brut, and I think both are intended to be colognes as well as AS splashes, the same as PAA splashes are...

Luckily for me, I shave at night, so I use splashes at night and EdTs in the morning...

I know PAA has this rep for long lasting aftershaves, but in my limited experience with their products, this is not the case. Aside from their deodorant (which does not work, btw), the only other software I own from them is the Al Fin splash. Longevity is maybe 2 hours at best. I love the scent, the face feel and menthol kick, but the scent just doesn't last for me. Which is fine for an AS, but with the reputation I was expecting more. YMMV...

I use it on my head, obviously, so it is difficult for me to smell any aftershaves after an hour just from ambient scent, BUT, I can rub my head and smell my hands, which is fantastic. Only Brut, Clubman, and PAA get me for a good 5 or 6 hours...

I've never tried his deodorants. I use Degree. I have used Degree for years, and never been disappointed so, I stick with it. Some things just work better with chemicals, in my opinion...

Obviously, scents, oils, chemicals, and combinations react with everyone's body differently, so these are always going to be a YMMV situation...

It could just be the particular scent I picked. I won't let that stop me from trying others. A lot of their scents sound awesome. The hard part is choosing which one to get!

So that is how they get the knots for horsehair brushes? I'm going synthetic. Wink

Because they are traditional wetshaving forums and virtually all of them have been that way over the last ten years. This one looks to be different, and I wish it every sucess.

Good farkin' grief, what a male catfight! From what I can see, the online traditional wetshaving culture has turned into something really melodramatic, sissified and weird. I am totally done with it. With the sole exception of one stellar aftershave, I will only purchase from brick and mortar stores from now on. That solves all the did they or didn't they issues.

Adios peeps. It's been real and it's been fun, but it's not been real fun. Hope your shaves are mind blowing awesome with whatever products and tools you choose, PAA included.

Speakeasy is very underrated. It's perhaps my favorite of his.

I dunno. I found this stuff to be pretty run of the mill. The AS Splashes did not moisturize my face, and I thought the scents were pedestrian and not for me. I must be the only one that doesn't like CaD, but after using it a few times, it became sickening. I additionally ended up hating Briar, again, the scent just was not for me.

The soaps performed fine, but nothing special. I would say I do not have a favorite PAA product. Now, I did not try them back in the day when they were How to Grow a Mustache so I'm not certain if they were better then. Also, I sampled most of the scents from the Crown King line and did not care for any of them.

Maybe I just tried ALL the wrong scents but none of them in the end blew my mind after a while, and again the soap was fine. I wasn't super impressed with the performance or post shave feel. Since the scents did not impress me, I see no reason to revisit the brand.

I will say I did like the labeling of the products and the plastic tub. That was solid, I'll give them marketing points there.
