Hate to put you in the spot but would you say this razor makes Top 5 or Top 10 in your collection?  I’ve been wanting one but never pulled the trigger.

I had to write out a list of my top razors in order to answer your question.  It does make my top 5.  My favorite razor is my Paradigm Diamondback, of which I have 2--the stainless steel 2020 and the titanium so those would be 1a and 1b.  In no particular order, the others would be my H&S Z074 Ti-5, my Timeless Ti .68, my Charcoal Goods Everyday and my Tatara. Edit: add Lambda Athena to this to make a top 6.

Sitting just outside of this top 6 would be my Paradigm Ti II, H&S Ti Efficient, Charcoal Goods Level 2, and Timeless Ti .95, with the latter 2 being a base plate switch using my Timeless and Charcoal Goods razor parts.  I also like my Feather AS-D2 and Rockwell 6S.

The Tatara is well engineered and crafted.  I spent a good deal of time picking the parts (matching a Nodachi cap to a Masamune base) that give me the type of mild yet efficient shave that I seek.  It seems somewhat blade dependent and the GSB was a really good choice.

I like a mild shaver with little to no blade exposure.  I also prefer a razor that clamps the blade firmly next to the edge of the blade.  My configured Tatara meets these criteria.    An example of a razor I don't get along well with is my standard Blackbird, liking it only after buying a Lite plate to tame it and make it work for me.

You went above and beyond with this response, much appreciated.  By the sounds of it we have similar preferences in razors.  Your mix and match of Tatara pieces is actually exactly what I had been interested in.  An old John Shaves YouTube video was where I got the inspiration.

I have been clearing out the den as of late, or at least trying.  It seems for every two razors I let go, a new one replaces them.  My goal is to get the collection down to truly used pieces only, so maybe cutting things off at a top 10, but there is so much out there that I have not tried yet.  Tatara and Charcoal Goods are two brands in that category.

Well once again thank you for the insight, more than likely I will Have to make a move on a Masamune the next time one comes around.
