The sharpest blade on my shelf is the Bic Chrome Platinum. I hardly ever use it. It’s too sharp. Most of my razors are pretty heavy. When I pop a Bic into one of them I discover, usually to my chagrin, that I’ve got an excellent tool for some down-to-the bone exfoliation. But the other day, just on a whim, I thought I’d give a Bic a try in this ultralight Baby Smooth razor. The results were fantastic. I come away with a very close shave that lasts ten to eleven hours. And the best part is, I can’t find a trace of irritation. A featherweight razor and a wicked sharp blade – looks like this could be the beginning of a beautiful relationship.

Sticking with the Astra SP again today (6th use) and was amazed at how well it performed in the Ambassador (setting 4).

Bouki which 6S plate would you compare the Baby Smooth?
HoosierShave, that's a good but really difficult questions. The two razors are so unlike each other. The most obvious difference is the weight. The Rockwell 6S is pretty heavy. It shaves like an M1 Abrams: precise but bulky, it packs an amazing punch. The Baby Smooth weighs in at the other end of the scale. It's so light that at first it was hard to manage. I kept using too much pressure, and that led to to discomfort. The other major difference is blade feel. I've used the Rockwell (baseplate 4) for so long, I don't hardly feel the blade any more. I have to check from time to time to be sure I really put a blade in the head. The Baby Smooth, on the other hand, never lets you forget you've got a very sharp instrument in your hand.

So to answer your question, which 6S plate would I compare the Baby Smooth to, I'd have to say it feels like a baseplate 5 or 6 simply because I feel so much blade. But at the same time, it's not as aggressive as a baseplate 5 or 6. It's actually about as aggressive as a baseplate 3.

Going from the Rockwell to the Baby Smooth took some adjusting. I had to really loosen my grip. And as I noted above, a very sharp blade works well in the Baby Smooth. Now that I've got it all figured out, life's dandy.
