CHARCOAL GOODS / 316L Polished Bishop G1 L1 SB
I’m very lucky to have 1 of very few polished 316L razors from the first run of CG SS. I love this style Bishop handle best of all Brian’s Bishop designs. Although I’m very fair in terms of facial hair, it seems the Gen 1 rigs have a more audible tone on the first pass; the sound one would expect from facial hair being mowed down by something really sharp

Aesthetically, Charcoal Goods Razors are imo top 5 of modern razors made; this one being an example of his broad artistic abilities and certainly showcases the infancy of Brian’s vision for the SS production.  I wasn’t lucky enough to get one of the 303 matte razors, I’ve seen parts offered here and there on the BST’s but never a complete first run matte razor.  Functionally, this L1 is different from my coppers and brass.  It seems more aggressive and visually the GAP is more robust than the brass and copper.  A SMOOOOOTH operator for sure, I can speed shave at multiple angles and is gentle enough if I were a daily shaver.  I’m a 2 pass shaver, no exception with this fine instrument!

The only thing missing from this brilliant razor is an original SS CG razor stand, unfortunately Brian never did a SS stand run.  I may bite the bullet with a Wolfman WRA2 to give this razor the elite display stature it deserves

eric.

Fine Marvel is such a great razor but it never seems to be talked about on the forum.

GSB (1) - not sure what happened, but I had a lot of stubble left after 3 passes on the chin and jawline

Very strange. This is usually a very efficient razor. What blade did you use and how many times?
