So this razor and blade are entirely new to me and I find them amazing.
The razor was introduced in 1966 and discontinued in the early 1970's.
The reason I have been told is that the razor manufacturers made their millions
not on the razors but on the sales of the hundreds of blades they consumed.
This razor has a very modest appetite.
Okay let's go. The (amazing, incredible - and lots more hyperbole) Schick Instamatic Band Razor.
I purchased one still in its bubble wrap package with its 6 blade, single edge cartridge, sealed and unused.
The Blades come in a long strip tightly coiled into the cartridge. They will not wind backwards. There are 6 and 10 strip blades or Bands.
I joined the two parts, the razor and the cartridge, together, moved the lever until #1 appeared in its little window and then commenced reading the instructions.
Next morning I took my first shave. What a shave! smoooth and oh so easy. At first I thought it wasn't cutting.
I found the correct angle to be close to 90 degrees from the face. The horizontal ribbing of the slim 4" long plastic handle makes it slip proof.
One pass gave me BBS but I was so impressed that I took 3 passes and a touch up just for pleasure.
To make a long story not so long I was pleasured with 43 shaves from number 1 blade. The last shave it pulled a little so I retired it.
As I was moving the lever to bring number 2 into position the phone rang. After the phone call I went back to the lever.
There was no number 2. It went to Number 3. I must have moved the lever when I answered the phone.
I am now on shave 4 on blade number 3. Now that I know what to expect, I shall know more in about a month or or so.

I hope this works. Photobucket is causing me grief.
