Hi Gents,

I'm curious... What is your favourite safety razor handle and why? Post a pic of you can.

The one that comes with the razor (so I apologize for no pics).  While I can appreciate the variety that switching out razor heads/handles offers, the manufacturer of any razor thinks of weight, balance, look, etc. when designing a complete razor and that is what I want to experience.  I really enjoy my Gillette NEWs (both short and long comb versions) but, somehow, putting a modern day handle on it just wouldn't be the same.  The sense of history would be lost.  I could say the same about taking my iKon Shavecraft 101 and putting a handle from one of my Gillette NEWs on it.  The history of both the modern razor head and vintage handle, or vice versa,  and what they were meant to do with their original parts are both lost.

These are obviously personal thoughts and there is no right or wrong answer to your question, Joe, so I shall be interested to see how others respond and how (or if) it will affect the thinking on one of your razors. Smile

I like this question Smile I don't have a favorite myself - I like the variety and unique cuts and textures of a lot of handles. I have swapped handles and heads but end back up with the original configurations in the end.

Interestingly though, on the flip side, it is easy for me to say there hasn't been a long & thin handle that was comfortable to me.

The handle can come with a head , it doesn't have to be an after market handle.

The Tradere handle with the bell flare on it was quite nice while available. If you were looking for a concept to bring back with a gap in the market, that might be it.

Partial to the ATT Atlas Handle. Nice length, weight and feel. Works well with a variety of heads.

Weber/Ikon Bulldogs 80mm...perfect handle length.

I remember now back in 2012 all the rage were these beautiful SS handles. The problem I found is they were as heavy as cast iron frying pans.

Too much of a good thing.

I seem to like the handle that gives the right balance to the razor to make the cutting force of the head most efficient.

I bought the original SLAB with the bulldog handle, liked it but felt that it wasn't efficient enough to get BBS without a little pressure. Then I got an Ikon DLC slant with an SE handle, but found it was so heavy I couldn't get an irritation free shave. I swaped the two handles, now I get BBS shaves easily with my SLAB with the Ikon SE handle, and my Ikon slant works much better (for me) with the Bulldog handle.

It's the right handle/head weight ratio that seems to work best.

... Or it's just the newest

The IKON Bamboo handle is my favorite; it fits my hand so well that it feels like it was custom made for me.  The weight and balance are also perfect and it makes any head that it is attached to feel much more user friendly.

Great Question! The Matador Toro Mastiff Corto handle is my favorite. It's heavy, thicker than most handles, great grip, but also unique in appearance - it makes for a beautiful and functional razor and handle.
