Hello Wet Shaving Community!

Just want to throw out a term that I thought of after having a terrible shave earlier in the week. A “Recovery Razor”! Meaning if you had a terrible shave with one razor, what would you choose next to make sure your next shave is flawless?

What’s your “Recovery Razor/s”?

Good question. For me it's the H&S N075, with the aluminum plate (there's an aluminum plate and a steel plate). While a terrible shave is, I'm glad to say, rare, the N075 is the one I invariably would turn to the next day.

I just let my skin heal and then try again with a fresh blade, and don't rush my shave.

What you should be asking yourself is why did I have bad/rough shave. Was it because of not prepping your face/beard enough? Maybe using too much pressure with the razor? Maybe the blade not suited to your skin/beard? If you don’t resolve those things than just changing to another razor may not solve your situation, however if you are new to wet shaving & are using an aggressive razor like Muhle R41 than something like Merkur 34 would make a difference.

I'll interpret this question a little differently.

As a beginner. I am most challenged by (no surprise) the chin and upper lip area. The remainder of my shave can be DFS+, but those problem areas just weep for all the tiny cuts and abrasions. Currently trying to switch up the variables, but have yet to avoid. Even if I skip a shave the next day, the telltale signs of skin cruelty are evident. Even a gentle single pass over the scars reopens them.

My "Recovery Razor" is a single pass over the affected area with a OneBlade Core/Feather razor.
