I didn't mean to imply you were throwing rocks at him, and apologize if it came across that way. Obviously others have, so it's no surprise if he got fed up. Regardless, we still have his excellent video reviews. For that he is to be commended and then some. As for his selling off most of a large collection, that appears to be commonplace. Guys get really into wetshaving, buying a ton of stuff as a result. Their very thorough and extensive investigation completed, and their curiosity satisfied, they then keep only the cream of the crop, their very favorite gear.

Yeah, there's always shavebusta and the Wet shaver's round table guys. In some ways I preferred TSE, or at least agreed with a lot of his preferences. There's lots of other resources to focus on, so its all good, I guess. It's kind of weird TSE would grow such disdain for the community he helped create. I kind of found it off-putting to be introduced to whatever bug got into him against the shaving community. I still like the hobby and look forward to my experiences with it. I'm glad there's other reviewers who are enjoying themselves with the hobby. I kind of thought the latest few videos were way out of left field. Perhaps its all justified, or no.......I just have really enjoyed all the people in the community and can't really imagine why they are being called crazy, or have driven TSE so far............I hope that whatever it is that has him so bothered is isolated to him and isn't indicative of things I haven't really noticed about the hobby yet. I still am having fun. Hope to stay so for a while. Thx for the replies.

the wet shaver's round table is too long, IMHO...I'll start to watch it, then it just gets boring to me so I close it.

Which community did he help create?

The wetshaving community, or at least the one that he contributed making.........I consider myself a member there because I got some of the stuff I have based off of his recommendations. Yeah, that round table is kind of long, but there's some good information there. I just unsubscribed from his channel. I don't want to be any more exposed to whatever made him want to hang it up than I already have. I'll perhaps learn on my own down the road, but this is a hobby I enjoy and its been fun learning about new equipment from most of the reviewers. Wish him the best, but I don't like hearing about drama. Frankly, I knew nothing of it until he mentioned it.

The wet shaving community was around long before TSE and it will survive without YT bloggers. I think he started a FB group after TSN stopped allowing video reviews to be posted. But he never built any forum or online community that I know of myself. Maybe I'm missing something though, which is entirely possible.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but he posted shave review videos...nothing more, nothing less. I never saw any community interaction. A community is more then one person.

An excellent youtube reviewer to watch, although he doesn't post very often, maybe once a month, is Shave the Man. So far I have enjoyed every video review he has done and he changes it up, there not all about soaps. He comes across very professional and appears to be an expert at describing fragrances and product qualities. Another youtube video poster I always enjoy is The Stallion, Anthony Esposito. I don't call him a reviewer because he doesn't actually review anything, just shaves and maybe comments on the "suds" once in a while. I don't care to watch anyone shave so I just fast forward through that part and listen to the beginning and end. Len Abrams is also a good one to watch. Lastly, there is Busta, who has his heart in it for sure and he makes me laugh.

You claim a number of times that TSE calls people crazy, once even implying that he says everyone in the wetshaving community is crazy.  Please cite evidence or such claims are without merit.  I do know that TSE has never called me crazy.

I would say that is pretty much dead on the money.  There are a few in every crowd.

Quote:You can't please everyone, but he gets a lot of views on there so I figure there are a lot more fans than haters obviously.
He certainly has a lot of videos.  I found them to be informative and very well done.  A fellow does not get over 5,000 subscribers unless he has made a good job of it.  I hope he does not let the haters and trolls get to him.  His departure would be a great loss to our community IMHO.

UNhate mail.

Dear Shaving Evangelist,

Where have you been? I missed you and beautiful Leroy.

You and your straightforward talk are needed.

Honestly, I only know one crazy wet shaving exponent.
Me.
I am crazy about wet shaving. I am 83 years old and only discovered Wet Shaving about four years ago.
My grandfather shaved every day as did my father and I followed suit.
To me it was a daily chore that I would get through as quickly as possible.
Then I discovered Wet Shaving and now will often wake up in the middle of the night to feel my face and make sure the crop was almost ready to harvest.

There are many good people on the internet talking about Wet Shaving and you rate among the best.

So, don't stop, please. As Dinah Shore used to sing "Happy Shaves To You." and from you to me.

I started wet shaving with Somerset Simpsons passed down to me from my father back in 1990 and still do quietly.
YouTube was founded in 2005.
All these videos seem narcissistic to me.
