Great overview, NeoXerxes, thanks. Is the EDT of Edition Blanche no longer available? That'd be a pity, as it really is nice. Though checking Fragrantica it looks as if the EDP isn't terribly different. I should probably give the original Allure Homme another try soon. Meantime I'm trying to resist nabbing Helmut Lang EDP, just in principle because of how pricey it is. :-)

My understanding is that the EDP is a rebranded and slightly reformulated Eau de Toilette Concentree. The EDP replaced the previous edition. Do give Allure Homme a shot when you have the chance - I'll certainly be trying Edition Blanche EDP when my local Barney's gets it.

I know what you mean on price lol. Especially when you get into niche, the cost of fragrances skyrockets. I always have to resist purchasing more Roja Dove fragrances because they are so expensive Sad. And so beautiful.

I totally respect your knowledge and taste of EdTs, Peter, as you certainly have a greater understanding of them than I.  However, if we should ever have an opportunity to meet and you are wearing the barfable Sauvage by Dior would you please warn me ahead of time so I might leave the room.  It really is that awful to me.  (Please note the "to me" so we do not start a flame war.  Rolleyes)

Freddy, don't worry mate - I'll make sure to wear Maison Francis Kurkdjian's Absolue pour le Soir instead Wink. *evil laugh*

Hehe. Thanks for the generous compliment, but fragrance is very much a matter of subjective taste. I would certainly not claim to have any special understanding of fragrance... As evidenced perhaps by the fact that I love Sauvage and Green Irish Tweed Big Grin.

Uh oh. Although I have never even heard of whatever you listed here (and I sincerely hope it is the biggest joke of all time), I may be in big trouble! Tongue

Peter, we may disagree on scents but thank you for the laughs. Smile

Thank you Freddy Big Grin.

Let's just say that Absolue Pour le Soir is one of the more challenging fragrances on the market - and I think it's a masterpiece.

Here are some choice comments that have been taken from Fragrantica reviews (feel free to moderate any of these that require moderation lol):

"Smells like a dirty bee that bathed in benzoin."

"It doesn't work on my skin. Horse piss, sorry, and I don't want to smell like this."

"On me it smelled exactly like really bad BO. I am guessing that it just did not like my skin as I can not imagine anyone wanting to smell like 2 day old stale sweat."

"I felt as though some huge and feral animal (think Yeti) had excreted mass amounts of anal gland oil on me with the intention of following through with the banging of my life....help!"

"Like sitting behind the guy on the bus who just pissed his pants. And you can tell by the smell that it wasn't the first time today."

"It's good seasoning for men who like to baste in their own juices, but it's not good flavoring for any woman who considers herself tender."

... Oh how I love fragrance and critique  Angel .

Oh my, Peter, if ever I needed a laugh for the day, that was it.  Rest assured, and based on the reviews you quoted here, I think I shall give this one a pass, if you don't mind. Tongue

I'd offer to send you a sample, but if you found Sauvage - a crowd pleaser - to be foul, I think one sniff from this one might send you to an early grave lol.

Shaving with B&M Leviathan led nicely into Dior Leather Oud.
