Black Aoud (Montale) rose oud
Is that a mace dangling from the nozzle of this canister? I suppose it’s there to warn you that this fragrance is about to pummel you with a mighty blast of soapy rose and oud that may leave you staggering a full eight hours. This juice is strong. Instead of a spritzer, it should come packaged with a fire hose.

Eau de Missions (Couvent des Minimes) vanilla tea
The label describes this as the “botanical cologne,” but I don’t smell the citrus, florals, and woods that you normally find in a fragrance of that name. Instead, I get a lot of sweet vanilla floating in a sea of tea. It’s an unusual accord. Though I don’t usually go for fragrances that smell edible, I like Eau de Missions for its peculiar combination of mildness and endurance.
