Chergui (Serge Lutens) hay & amber
Sweet hay and sweeter amber make for a soft, sticky scent that worked brilliantly for me last summer when I was in a high, dry climate. Now at sea level, blanketed in a hot humid fug, I’m a little overwhelmed by this fragrance’s syrupy richness. Chergui’s going back on the shelf until the trade winds return.

Couldn't agree more. I love that scent, but I've been so annoyed by the lingering warmth we've been having, as it's been keeping me from wearing Chergui. Such a great winter fragrance, however.
Hammam Bouquet (Penhaligon’s) spicy rose
This one just makes me laugh every time I try it. The first blast is so over the top, so rosy and funky at the same time. It dries down into something fantastic, a spicy rose that rides fairly close to the skin and lasts up to thirty hours. Spray it on fabric and you’ll stretch its longevity by days.

Terre d’Hermès (Hermès) citrus, cedar, vetiver
I don’t really care for this in large doses, but a dab or two on a warm day can be very pleasant. It’s unexpectedly light and transparent – a strange take on the concept of terre. The cedar and other woody notes are especially clean. It starts off a little fruity but then dries down into an immaculate vetiver that wouldn’t stain a white shirt, even if you rolled around in it.
