Sartorial (Penhaligon’s) modern fougère
After the ozone wears away, the combination of honey, beeswax, and black pepper keeps this fragrance interesting and completely out of the ordinary. Sartorial is recognizable as a fougère, distantly, but there’s so much else going here, like leather and wool and even dry cleaning fluid. It’s an olfactory stroll down Savile Row. The end may be a little sweet, but the violet leaf and oakmoss keep it all in balance.

PHI Une Rose de Kandahar (Tauer) apricot, rose, incense
A hearty blast of apricot gives this rose a soft, sticky, almost mushy texture. Since Une Rose de Kandahar is an homage to Afghanistan, it’s not too surprising to find Tauer’s desert accord whirling around the bottom. It gives the scent enormous volume and dries everything out. All together, the fragrance is quite strong. One spritz or a couple dabs will keep you feeling fruity all day.

Dior Homme (Christian Dior) candied leather
Suave and sweet, this leather is probably too fine to wear to the office. I imagine it would smell terrific under a black bow tie, but if I had to wait for one of those occasions to come around before using Dior Homme, I’m sure the juice would evaporate first.
