While yes, I did think of it right before typing it, it's something of an amalgamation of quite a few things. The tapestry part is definitely from The Alvin Maker series by Orson Scott Card, the book waiting to be written, well, I was thinking about those books, then back to the future/The Matrix/basically everything to do with time travel and/or fate
